A Pilot Study on How Coping Strategy in Musical Activities has a Positive Impact on Stress Reduction and Relation States

Abstract
The purpose of this research is to compare of stress and relaxation in listening music versus improvisation according to stress coping strategy. HRV and 'R-state inventory were used to measure stress and relaxation state. Research process was divided into two part; survey and experimental research. Participants(N=6) were divided into two group based on stress coping strategy. Each group was participated in music listening and improvisation receptively. Before and after session, each person completed the smith Relaxation State inventory and stress used by HRV. The results was as follows. Those who have active coping strategy were more relaxed in improvisation than in listening music. However, those who have inactive coping strategy were more relaxed in music listening, rather than in improvisation.
